Abstract
Ralph A. Giannella will become the 93rd president of the American Gastroenterological Association during Digestive Disease Week in May 1999. His path to the presidency has been illuminated by a distinguished career as an educator, researcher, clinician, and administrator. He will bring to the presidency the energy, dedication, critical analysis skills, and open-mindedness that has characterized his academic career.
