Abstract
Arthroscopic subacromial decompression has become increasingly popular as an operative treatment for shoulder impingement syndrome. It is generally a safe procedure with low morbidity and very few complications. A case where the deltoid became detached during arthroscopic subacromial decompression is presented as an example of the perils of overaggressive subacromial decompression. This is the first reported case of such a complication related to arthroscopic subacromial decompression.
