Abstract
Psychotherapy is a cost-effective treatment modality with demonstrated effectiveness in various medical and psychiatric conditions. The author reviews contemporary trends in the psychodynamic understanding of and practice of psychotherapy for women. Emphasis is placed on practical interventions that the primary care clinician can use in practice.
