How I do it: pre-operative CT scanning for adult living right lobe liver transplantation.

Abstract

In response to the ongoing shortage of cadaveric livers, living-related liver transplantation is being performed with increasing frequency. The preoperative imaging work-up must document important vascular and parenchymal variants that may alter the anticipated surgical procedure, or even preclude a healthy donor from undergoing surgery. This review summarizes our experience and CT technique for the preoperative imaging of patients being evaluated for right lobe liver transplantation. It is important to recognize that MR also plays a very useful preoperative role.
