Abstract
Forced by scandal to leave Oxford University, infectious disease expert Roy Anderson seemed destined to be <i>persona non grata</i> in the scientific community. Three years later, however, Anderson is back in the thick of things, investigating HIV/AIDS, foot-and-mouth disease and, lately, severe acute respiratory syndrome.
