Abstract
An enormous number of articles have been written over the years in which the title is some variation of "The kidney in hypertension: Cause or consequence"?. The answer, of course, is that it can be either, neither, or both, at least before treatment is undertaken. Once treatment is undertaken, all patients have an element of kidney involvement.
