Intra-articular dislocation of the patella with incomplete rotation--two case reports and a review of the literature.

Abstract

Intra-articular dislocation of the patella is a rare clinical condition. Only forty-five cases have been reported. Most of them were encountered in adolescents and required an open reduction. We report two cases in an older age group with an incomplete rotation of the patella, which were successfully treated by closed reduction. We discuss the literature and suggest that the management depends on the degree of patellar rotation.
