Ganglioneuroma with scoliosis of the thoracic spine: a case report.

Abstract

Ganglioneuroma is a benign tumor of neural crest origin that may provoke a scoliosis as well as neurological symptoms. Treatment includes resection with possible spinal fusion for instability and close follow-up for many years. The purpose is to report an invasive ganglioneuroma that was successfully treated by resection without spinal fusion. Case report. A 15-year-old white female. Resolution of the patient's back pain with radiographic and clinical follow-up for recurrence of the tumor. Not applicable. The patient experienced resolution of her back pain without recurrence of the tumor. This is a rare benign tumor that was effectively treated with surgical resection and without spinal fusion.
