Abstract
With the surgical techniques used nowadays, bleeding complications after heart surgery have become less common. We report the case of a 72-year-old male patient who underwent mitral valve reconstruction and suffered from serious bleeding complications. The patient needed repeated blood transfusions (30 red blood cell concentrates and 12 units of fresh frozen plasma) until a final diagnosis of hemophilia A was made and substitution of the depleted factor VIII was begun.
