Abstract
The present study describes a complication of a transvaginal pelvic floor repair system for the treatment of anterior vaginal prolapse. A postmenopausal woman with anterior vaginal wall prolapse was treated with a transvaginal nonabsorbable polypropylene mesh system. The procedure was complicated by a large perioperative retroperitoneal hematoma. The insertion of synthetic meshes in gynecologic surgery is gaining popularity, but all pelvic surgeons should be aware of the potential complications associated with these new techniques.
