Abstract
Conditioning for return to work has become an integral part of the comprehensive hand rehabilitation program. Through experience and the development of guidelines, the practice of work hardening has matured. Skillful evaluation of the injured worker has enhanced the efficacy of work hardening programs. An understanding of program planning, implementation, and influential economic factors assist the work hardening team in creating and maintaining program excellence.
