Abstract
Even after comprehensive counseling, patients change their mind about the decision to terminate a pregnancy. There are few data about the effect of laminaria placement and removal on subsequent pregnancy outcome. We describe four cases of laminaria removal at 12-17 weeks of gestation with varying outcomes. Two of the four cases developed cervical dilation and delivered early with documented acute chorioamnionitis. Patients should be counseled that pregnancy termination begins with laminaria placement and that their removal could result in premature delivery.
