Cosmetics: saving face at what price?

Abstract

Arguably, women (and men) are willing victims of exploitation by cosmetics makers and advertisers, exchanging dollars and good sense for the hope of rejuvenation. This does not justify, however, lack of regulation, use of potentially harmful ingredients, or exaggerated claims. Consumers of cosmetics deserve safe effective products at reasonable prices.
