Abstract

Cardiovascular disease, which includes coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, congestive heart failure, dyslipidemias, and hypertension, affect millions of Americans and are perennially near the top of the list of causes of morbidity and mortality. Poor people are affected at an even greater rate and are more likely to die or suffer significant disability from these illnesses. It has been shown that many holistic therapies are cost-effective and well-tolerated alternatives to traditional allopathic remedies.
