Abstract
Solitary fibrous tumor is a rare mesenchymal tumor reported initially in the pleura but that is now reported in widely ranging anatomic sites with a variable clinical course. Solitary fibrous tumor arising from the female genital tract is extremely rare and the management of this condition is controversial. We report three cases of female genital tract solitary fibrous tumors displaying different clinical behaviors and review literature with regard to diagnosis, possible prognostic factors, and management of this tumor. The primary treatment of this disease should be surgical. The rarity and disparate clinical manifestations of this disease preclude a definitive statement on use and optimization of adjuvant therapy. Nevertheless, both pathologic and clinical findings may be useful in gauging risk and assessing the merits of individualized adjuvant therapy.
