Pseudoaneurysm of the superior thyroid artery following revision tracheostomy.

Abstract

This case report describes the presentation and management of a rare complication of pseudoaneurysm of the superior thyroid artery following tracheostomy. The majority of post-tracheostomy bleeding is managed either with packing or surgical re-exploration. However, angiography can pinpoint an arterial source of bleeding and allow the surgeon to address it via either a traditional open surgical approach or with minimally invasive endovascular embolization.
