Abstract

In brief: Varicose veins can affect active HMM people of all ages, although the incidence gradually increases with age. Conservative treatment (eg, support stockings or exercise modification) often is sufficient, but in severe cases, injection therapy or ligation or removal of the varicose veins may be appropriate. Understanding the pathophysiology involved and the management options available can help physicians counsel patients with this common disorder.
