Abstract
Many patients are afraid to resume sexual activity after a heart attack. Physicians can reassure them that the physical demands of sexual activity are no greater than those of many everyday activities. Although some prescribed drugs may affect sexual response, the major negative effect on sex drive and function among these patients is often psychological rather than physical.
