Abstract
In brief Patients who have pain from such maladies as plantar fasciitis, bunions, ankle sprains, Achilles tendinitis, shin splints, or patel-lofemoral syndrome may benefit from orthotic devices. Orthoses can help alleviate pain that stems from abnormal foot biomechanics, such as overpronation or rigid pes cavus. This guide highlights when orthoses may be appropriate adjuncts for treating active people.
