Editorial Commentary: Ligamentum Teres Tears: What Are We Chasing? Could Posterior Bony Impingement Cause Midsubstance Tears?

Abstract

In addition to traumatic events such as hip dislocations, bony impingement can result in partial or complete tears of the ligamentum teres. The understanding of the biomechanical function, structural and mechanical properties of the ligament teres, and the reasons for tears is still evolving, and we should continue to look out for unusual appearances. Obviously, the clinical relevance of the findings can be debated.
