Abstract
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) as a blood-based biomarker for mutation detection is an exciting, highly sensitive approach in the clinical management of oncology patients. In human papillomavirus-associated malignancies like anal cancer, a viral-specific probe can be utilized for ctDNA detection in the majority of patients to predict clinical outcomes.<i>See related article by Bernard-Tessier et al., p. 2109</i>.
