Abstract
<b>OBJECTIVE.</b> Inferior vena cava (IVC) filters are commonly used in patients who are at risk for life-threatening pulmonary embolism. After the introduction of permanent devices, numerous retrievable and convertible designs became available. Inaccurate identification can lead to confusion in options for filter retrieval and anticoagulation. <b>CONCLUSION.</b> This article highlights device designs of retrievable and convertible IVC filters to assist interpretation of diagnostic studies.
