Abstract
A novel telomerase vaccine (INVAC-1) has been evaluated in a phase I clinical trial (<i>n</i> = 26). It induced CD8<sup>+</sup> and CD4<sup>+</sup> T-cell responses and reduced circulating regulatory T cells. The findings support further development, especially in combination with vaccine adjuvants, plus therapies to increase immune infiltrates into solid tumor metastases.<i>See related article by Teixeira et al., p. 588</i>.
