Abstract
<b>OBJECTIVE.</b> This commentary discusses the need for awareness of and action against hackers and ransomware to protect medical data. <b>CONCLUSION.</b> Efforts must be made by medical groups at all levels to reinforce security measures, maintain an upgraded computing infrastructure to combat new hacking techniques, and share knowledge obtained from hacking incidents.
