Abstract
Gastric tube reconstruction is now the method most frequently used for digestive tract reconstruction after the resection of esophageal carcinoma. In our institute, a <sup>"</sup>flexible<sup>"</sup> gastric tube designed to supply a sufficient amount of blood to the tip of the gastric tube (the same as a subtotal gastric tube) and simultaneously provide sufficient length for tension-free anastomosis in the cervical surgical field (the same as a narrow gastric tube) was introduced. This gastric tube formation method has contributed to reducing the rate of anastomotic leakage.
