Abstract
Early-life stress can have long-term health consequences, but the mechanisms of this are unknown. In this issue of Cell, Hong et al. demonstrate one such mechanism linking perinatal corticosteroid exposure to reduced CD8<sup>+</sup> T cell function later in life and impaired anti-cancer and anti-bacterial immune responses.
