A Labor of Love.

Abstract

It is natural to want to avoid the sadness and powerlessness that come with losing, especially a young patient to a ravaging cancer. But there is gratification for the clinician and a deep sense of connection and support on the part of the patient and their family when we instead lean into and share those feelings, bringing our human self to the relationship when it feels that our medical self can offer so little.
