Abstract
The composition of nutrients in the tumor microenvironment is a key determinant of anti-tumor CD8<sup>+</sup> T cell response. In this issue of Cell Metabolism, Jiang and colleagues unveil that tumor-derived fumarate dampens TCR signaling in CD8<sup>+</sup> T cells, resulting in defective activation, loss of effector functions, and associated failure of tumor control.
