Abstract
The global burden of colorectal cancer is expected to increase more than 60% by 2030; however, compelling evidence now shows that the implementation of population screening programs in developed countries has led to a substantial reduction in incidence and mortality.<sup>1,2</sup> Despite this, patients continue to develop preventable colorectal cancers, in part because of high rates of interval colon cancer diagnosed after screening or surveillance colonoscopies.<sup>3</sup>.
