Abstract
Best Oral Therapy for Staph aureus OsteomyelitisA 50-year-old patient with diabetes mellitus has a plantar ulcer at the base of the first metatarsal. Cortical erosions are noted; bone biopsy culture yields <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i> susceptible to methicillin, ciprofloxacin, clindamycin, doxycycline, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, linezolid, and rifampin. The plan is for 4 weeks of antibiotic treatment. Which antibiotic should be prescribed?
