Delayed Enhancing White Matter Lesions, a Rare Complication After Stent-Assisted Coil Embolization: A Case Report.

Abstract

Delayed enhancing white matter lesions are a rare complication that develops after endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms, the etiology of which remains unclear. We present a 52-year-old female patient who was symptomatic with a seizure-like condition and showed reversible cranial parenchymal changes with high-dose cortisone treatment after endovascular stent-assisted coil embolization for an unruptured aneurysm in the internal cerebral artery. Clinicians should be alert to this rare complication and should follow patients for a long time due to its fluctuating and long-term course.
