Editorial Commentary: Long Term Results of Hip Arthroscopy for Femoroacetabular Impingement Are Similar Between Male and Female Patients, So Let's Not Use Sex as an Excuse.

Abstract

Female patients improve equally to male patients with femoroacetabular impingement syndrome arthroscopy, which includes labral repair and capsular closure. The equivalence in improvement may be related to routine capsular closure in all patients. Female patients have a greater incidence of generalized joint hypermobility, which can be mitigated with capsular closure and treated with capsular plication. The shift from dogma to clinical certainty is achieved by long-term outcome tracking.
