Abstract
Starvation triggers an organismal adaptive response that is orchestrated by endocrine factors. In this issue of Cell Metabolism, Long et al.<sup>1</sup> uncover a famsin-glucagon axis that relays gut-derived hormonal cues to systemic glucose homeostasis during fasting.
