Minimal variation between surgeons in online patient-reported ratings: A meaningless metric? - A retrospective analysis of physician reviews.

Abstract

There is limited information available when selecting a physician. Many patients now rely on physician-review websites to help make their decision. Additionally, there has been increasing emphasis on patient satisfaction scores and reviews as a metric for compensation. Upon review of commonly used websites there was minimal variation in ratings between surgeons. There remains significant questions on the accuracy and ability of these metrics to stratify physicians.
