This Expression of Concern is for the above article, published online on 6 September 2013 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), and has been issued by agreement between the journal Editors-in-Chief, Sue Clark and Neil Smart; The Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland; and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. The Expression of Concern has been agreed due to concerns raised regarding the surgical and research practices of one of the coauthors, Anthony Dixon, and two of Dr. Dixon's cited articles (Owais et al., 2014 [https://doi.org/10.1111/codi.12763]; Randall et al. 2014 [https://doi.org/10.1111/codi.12741]) that are under investigation by the publisher. The investigation into these concerns is ongoing. Therefore, the journal has decided to issue an Expression of Concern to inform and alert the readers.
