Preoperative Planning and Harvesting Technique of Quadriceps Tendon With Bone Block for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: An Evidence-Based, Cosmetic, and Precise Harvest Method.

Abstract

The quadriceps tendon has become an increasingly standard option for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Notably, many harvesting techniques involve longitudinal skin incisions, which sometimes result in scar formation, creating cosmetic concerns, and small incisions sometimes have bone complications and require specific devices. We used a transverse skin incision for a minimally invasive quadriceps tendon graft with a bone block without specific devices. This technique provides an adequate bone block from the appropriate patellar position, decreasing the risk of patellar fracture while preserving a small skin incision to resolve cosmetic problems and preserve the joint capsule.
