Editorial Commentary: Postoperative Corticosteroid Injection Is a Viable Treatment for Postoperative Stiffness After Rotator Cuff Repair.

Abstract

Managing rotator cuff tears with concurrent frozen shoulder remains a challenge for shoulder surgeons because postoperative stiffness often conflicts with rehabilitation efforts. While some surgeons advocate delaying rotator cuff tear surgery until frozen shoulder resolves, 1-stage surgery combining rotator cuff repair and capsular release has gained popularity. Although further research is needed to determine whether corticosteroid injections in the early postoperative period can fully replace arthroscopic capsular release, current findings suggest that the corticosteroid injections may serve as a safer alternative, particularly in high-risk patients.
