Abstract
A crucial goal of sleep science is to uncover the molecular mechanisms that translate sleep need into neural pathways that discharge sleep/wake transitions. In a new study, Tian et al.1 provide support in living animals that peroxide in the substantia nigra is a critical driver of these states.
