The Figure-8 Crossing Line Technique for Arthroscopic Treatment of Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation: A Technical Note.

Abstract

For high-grade dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint, surgical intervention is typically recommended. In comparison to clavicle hook plate fixation, arthroscopic suspension fixation offers several advantages, including reduced trauma, fewer complications, and improved postoperative joint function. However, the procedure poses significant technical challenges, particularly regarding the creation of bone tunnels under arthroscopy. This article presents an effective technique for crossing lines, termed the "figure-8 crossing technique." This method provides numerous opportunities for line crossings, facilitates the use of smaller bone tunnels for multiple crossings, allows for bidirectional line placement, and incorporates a distance measurement feature. The technique can be broadly applied in arthroscopic suspension fixation surgical procedures for acromioclavicular joint dislocation and is adaptable for use in any surgical procedure involving suspension fixation.
