ASO Practice Guideline Series: Management of Colorectal Peritoneal Metastases.

Abstract

Colorectal peritoneal metastases (CRPM) represent a significant treatment challenge for patients with colorectal cancer that significantly impact quality of life and limit survival. Systemic chemotherapy represents the current mainstay of management for metastatic disease, but the use of cytoreductive surgery with and without hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) is being established as a promising option with survival benefit for select patients. Identifying best management practices for patients with CRPM is critical as intervention with CRS/HIPEC can carry significant risks of morbidity and mortality. This guideline report aims to summarize the existing literature regarding optimal management of patients with CRPM and current areas of ongoing investigation.
