Abstract

This article explores the key elements of integrating quality improvement (QI) and patient safety (PS) in medical education and throughout physician training. It begins by identifying core requirements for undergraduate and graduate medical education, and then delves into various frameworks for embedding QI initiatives into curricula. Emphasizing experiential learning, the article discusses hands-on approaches that foster practical understanding of QI. It also examines strategies for cultivating a culture of safety within medical institutions. It addresses experiential learning techniques specifically for PS, in-depth discussion of root cause analysis, and challenges in the education of QI and PS.
