Abstract
Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a prevalent form of oral cancer, accounting for over 90% of malignant lesions in the oral cavity. This case report aims to highlight the diagnostic challenges posed by OSCC when it mimics a dentoalveolar abscess, leading to potential delays in appropriate treatment. We present a case report of patient initially diagnosed with dentoalveolar abscesses, which were later confirmed to be OSCC through histopathological examination. The clinical presentations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment outcomes are discussed. Our findings underscore the importance of considering OSCC in the differential diagnosis of persistent oral lesions, even when they present with symptoms typical of dental abscesses. Early detection and accurate diagnosis are crucial for improving patient prognosis and survival rates.
