Abstract
With the high rate of youth participation in sports, it is important for those responsible for maintaining the safety of athletes to be proficient in diagnosis and intervention of both catastrophic sports-related diagnoses and other common sport-related injuries. The purpose of this article is to discuss current evidence for sideline management, diagnosis, and aftercare of concussion; exertional heat illness; sudden cardiac arrest; exertional sickling; and other sports-related injuries in adolescents.
