Maximizing Exposure of the Distal Humerus.

Abstract

Several surgical approaches have been described to optimize visualization and fixation of distal humerus fractures treated with open reduction and internal fixation. Commonly used are the posterior paratricipital, triceps-splitting, triceps tongue, and olecranon osteotomy. Anterior, medial, and lateral approaches are less often utilized as these may confer less versatility and more limited visualization. However, knowledge of these additional exposure options may prove invaluable when treating specific injury patterns.
