Abstract
This Anatomy chapter is the Introductory article to the 2025 Ankle Arthroscopy issue of Foot & Ankle Clinics. We believe it covers all the necessary points to perform a safe and effective modern ankle arthroscopy, that is, avoiding permanent ankle distraction to allow assessing and treating the lateral and medial intraarticular ligaments. The contents displayed in this chapter are taken from the Anatomy lectures presented in minimally invasive foot and ankle society (MIFAS) by Grecmip Basic Ankle Arthroscopy Course, and include the most relevant research on ankle anatomy, a field that has evolved significantly over the last 10 years.
