Endoscopic Approach to Achilles Tendon Injuries.

Abstract

Although the Achilles tendon is a highly robust tendon, it is susceptible to ruptures and overuse. To date, there are no definitive or conclusive methods of management for the various pathologic conditions that can adversely affect the tendon. Endoscopic techniques have gained popularity in recent years because of their minimally invasive nature, improved cosmetic outcomes, relatively rapid recovery, and low morbidity. Several endoscopic methods have been developed to treat the various injuries and pathologic conditions that can affect the Achilles tendon. The outcomes of such measures have been reported to be satisfactory and warrant further investigation.
