Arthroscopic Repair of a Neglected Subscapularis Avulsion of the Lesser Tuberosity of the Humerus in the Adolescent Population.

Abstract

Subscapularis avulsion fractures of the lesser tuberosity of the humerus are uncommon injuries, especially in skeletally immature populations. We will present the technical process (the arthroscopic repair) and management for displaced avulsion fracture of the lesser tuberosity with localized pain and limited range of motion. Because it is not easily detected especially with younger patients, we highlight the importance of early recognition, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate management of avulsion fractures in adolescent athletes to achieve optimal outcomes and prevent long-term sequelae.
