Perioperative Considerations for Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Ablative Therapy for Atrial Fibrillation.

Abstract

Atrial fibrillation is the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia in adults and is associated with significant morbidity. Consequently, catheter-based ablative therapy has become increasingly popular, especially with recent innovations such as pulsed field ablation. The preoperative evaluation, including a careful review of comorbidities, anticoagulation management, and antiarrhythmic medication, is of vital importance. Furthermore, understanding the intraoperative considerations and potential complications is imperative to optimizing patient outcomes. This review focuses on the transcatheter endovascular ablation and perioperative anesthetic considerations of patients undergoing these procedures.
