Abstract
The number of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) transplantation clinical trials for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is increasing quickly, with groups using different stem cell sources, delivery approaches, and immune suppression. We discuss the recent success in a phase 1/2a clinical trial<sup>1</sup> evaluating allogeneic RPE stem cell-derived RPE cells isolated from the RPE layer of human cadaveric eyes.
