Abstract

Manipulating the radiation from quantum emitters (QEs) on demand is crucial for the development of advanced quantum technologies. Realizing freely structured photon emission from QEs offers extra degrees of freedom for optical information processing and holds great potential for enhancing encoding capacity. However, conventional methods developed primarily for manipulating free-space beam are poorly suited for realizing at-source control of nanoscale photon sources. Here, we develop a general approach for directly generating arbitrarily structured emissions from individual nanodiamonds containing nitrogen-vacancy centers, enabled by integration with holographic metasurfaces mediated by surface plasmons. By fully utilizing the in-plane spatial degrees of freedom and encoding vectorial wavefront information into holographic metasurface, we experimentally reconstruct diverse polarization-multiplexed structured photoluminescence, including triangle multichannel and letter-shaped photon emission. The at-source control of photon "shape" at the emission origin holds promise for scalable, high-capacity quantum nanophotonic devices and single-photon encryption and recognition.
